Playing it Old School Documentary
Client: SET Japan/Red Bull Music Japan
DOCUMENTARY, MOTION, DESIGN
SET worked with Red Bull Music Japan to produce this full-length documentary exploring two iconic Japanese music technologies: the Sony Walkman and the Technics SL-1200 turntable. Filmed across three continents and featuring over 40 interviews, the documentary traces Japan's influence over global music culture through the evolution of music technology.
I created and animated detailed product breakdowns that were used as chapter headings throughout the documentary. Working from original technical manuals, I digitally isolated and prepared individual components to build the exploded-view sequences.
Tools used: Adobe After Effects, Cinema4D, Photoshop
