Camp Mograph Zine: Virginia Beach
Client: Camp Mograph
DESIGN, LAYOUT, PRINT
This was my third time designing the Camp Mograph event zine. This time, Camp was returning to Virginia Beach, marking the first time in the event’s history that they had returned to a venue. The theme was “The Beach is Back,” with a focus on Y2K-era beach fashion and advertising styles. I leaned into a vibrant, collage style, with a small nod to David Carson, without making the design too dark or grungy.
The Zine is a collaborative effort, featuring submissions from the workshop hosts, speakers, sponsors, and essential information from the Camp Directors. It contains workshop advertisements, a detailed event schedule, a map of the campgrounds, and code of conduct information, along with bar menus, sponsor (often spoof) ads, and fun little tidbits for the campers to enjoy.
Tools used: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.
One of my favourite designs that I created for the zine, Anca Sandu Budisan's workshop promo page.
The above grid showcases some of the designs, including the welcome page, and a teaser for the scavenger hunt. The "Express Yourself" (Pick a Pokemon) page at bottom right was designed by workshop host Luis Miranda, and the top left workshop promo for glitch art was designed by hosts ThrownLight.
